EBT Abuse: The Cash-for-Drunkards Program

My liberal minded daughter and I get into debates over all social issues (which actually result in economic issues, BTW). She sees nothing wrong with someone dressed to the nines, perfectly styled hair and nails, walking up in a CVS drugstore line and buying a pint of gourmet ice-cream with an EBT card. I melted down when I saw this abuse of MY money!!! I don't want people to go hungry, but there's absolutely no excuse good enough for me that someone is spending my grandchildren's future buying luxury items and paying double what it would have costs in a grocery store!!! I'm sure they had hungry little children at home and planned on feeding them all with that ice-cream and couldn't be inconvenienced waiting inline at Kroger.

If i were contributing to the upkeep of a child like your daughter. She would find her self on the street. Paying taxes to support the free loaders. I suspect most young people like her are living off of their parents.

She's a 34 years old. She is married with 2 kids. She has 2 degrees, so I don't support her. I do suspect it is because of her liberal indoctrination in our education system that has formed her social opinions. It has nothing to do with me.

My brother also says that it is due to his three children's education that they are socialists. I have two children who were home schooled and are not socialists because I firmly believe that the PARENTS are responsible for how their children are taught. You and my brother failed your children.

I agree with much of what you say, but as for "I don't want people to go hungry", would you rather they are fed now so they grow up strong and healthy and can mug you (or worse) 15 or 16 years from now?

First off, I have CCP, I don't fear people mugging me. They should get only basic necessities like, flour, milk, dry beans...ONLY if they cannot work or are elderly. Period.
From New York to New Mexico and across the dependent plains, welfare recipients are getting sauced on the public dime. Drunk, besotted, bombed. But while politicians pay lip service to cutting government waste, fraud and abuse, they're doing very little in practice to stop the EBT party excesses. Where's the compassion for taxpayers?

You see the signs everywhere: "We accept EBT." Fast-food restaurants do. Clothing retailers do. Auto repair shops, liquor stores and even sushi joints are joining the club. "EBT" stands for the federal government's electronic benefits transfer card, which is intended to provide poor people with food stamps and cash...
