InBlack, You talked about lying with statistics. Then you quote some articles that you say proves your point. How about this: Rates of violent crime, per 100,000 people: England 2034 Austria 1677 Sweden 1123 Belgium 1006 Finland 738 Netherlands 676 France 504 United States 466 Those figures are from the European Commission and United Nations.

As I have just pointed out in another reply, McGovern, the UK has TWENTY EIGHT various 'violent' offences on their various statute books (for England and Wales, Scotland and NI). Thats why on paper England/UK looks so violent, when in fact the number of offences grossly distorts the real picture.

From your own article:

"Police Minister David Hanson said: 'These figures are misleading.
Levels of police recorded crime statistics from different countries are simply not comparable since they are affected by many factors, for example the recording of violent crime in other countries may not include behaviour that we would categorise as violent crime."

A police chief, who is under fire for the violence on his watch, actually says the figures are misleading!

Thanks for that helpful info, InBlack!

Versus a politician that was trying to get increase "crime fighting" money.

Yeah, I'll stick with the cop vs the politician.

meaning they fudge the facts to present a more peaceful society, when it's exactly the opposite.

They'd rather a person was brutalized or burgled than defend themselves with a gun.

Sorry McGovern but you quoted a real source and InBlack only accepts fake sources like Wikipedia, the New York Times, and HuffPo!

No New York Times, no HuffPo.

Your comment is worthless. Try checking the source I listed below.

Since NBC sportscaster Bob Costas gave us an anti-gun lecture two weeks ago during Sunday Night Football, we've heard a lot from progressives like Juan Williams, Bob Beckel and anti-gun advocacy groups about how countries in Europe with strict gun control laws don't have problems with gun crime. We've also heard the reason the United States has a "gun crime problem" is because we allow citizens to own handguns however, the numbers on violent crime committed using a gun tell a different story.

New data out from the UK, where guns are banned, shows gun crime has soared by...
