Being from Louisiana, I saw first-hand the difference between The Red Cross and The Salvation Army. While the Red Cross was being interviewed on TV, the Salvation Army was on the front lines, giving out coffee and food, clothes and comfort. I never saw any aid from the Red Cross, but they sure got the publicity. At the same time, the Salvation Army never sought any publicity. They quietly and efficiently took care of people.

On Friday night, swing-voters across the nation saw a one-minute advertisement paid for by the Red Cross featuring President Barack Obama.

The ad comes on the weekend before the election, and while the Red Cross does unquestionable good for millions of Americans, the choice to run this ad comes noticeably close to a campaign endorsement for President Obama.
