Phyllis Schlafley's article yesterday provided great reasons why it's ridiculous to put females in combat situation. When will women realize that it's not a slam or sleight against women to not be in combat? Potential for promotion to General is the LAST reason any woman should want to be in combat.

I'm a woman and was in the military and "yes" I could carry a 180 lb person 500 yards (we're trained how - so not a good argument). The real test is not in the strength or weakness of a woman since only those who can meet the rigorous physical standards would supposedly be accepted. The real test is how will a man handle watching a female be tortured by gang-rape or worse. The real test is how will the stressful situation of combat prevent at least one of the men from "falling in love" with the woman with whom he serves or v/v. There will be exceptions to those who aren't ruled by their hormones, but in reality, sex is the military's second-favorite pastime. If they were honest, it's their first-favorite pastime and military is second.

She shouldn't have been allowed to act that way. Her commander should have told her to do it or receive an Article 15 for disobeying a direct order. Who's fault is it really? The commander who didn't have the courage to tell her to suck it up or the woman who took advantage? You don't have to be a man to "suck it up and drive on." If men start holding women responsible for Military standards, then maybe the women will stop trying to use "feminine wiles" to get out of doing what is needed.

Women DO belong in the military. They perform extremely well in support missions outside of combat. They have proven themselves over time starting the with the WACs, to the nurses on down to whatever non-combat role they perform today. The NFL and NBA have women in supporting roles for the team - just not out on the field/court facing off against the other team. There are some MOSs that women can do as well as or better than men. I agree, that's not combat or anything related to upper-body strength, but the rest of your assertion doesn't hold water with all the female veterans this country has produced.

Agreed. Great suggestions.
Should a woman be trained for combat? Yes - for instances of the worst case scenario. Should women be in combat units? No. The bottom line is that women in combat will be targeted by the enemy and they will be raped. It IS selfish of the women and they ARE putting their squads at risk by their being there. The other bottom line is that when men in women are put into stressful conditions together, they are inclined to fall in "love." Love/sex-distracted soldiers in the combat zone are a No Go. There are certain jobs men are more suited for. Combat is one of them.

Bursting the University Bubble

Going to a university is about more than getting a good job. It teaches, or is supposed to teach, young adults how to think critically and problem solve - even if their major is "identity group victimology studies." They may receive propaganda from leftists if they attend a Marxist university, but if they do their research and find a conservative university, the education they receive can set them up for life. It's more than about money and a job, both of which are very nice, but merely a by-product of the beneficial learning.

Patriotism is NOT dead until the last Patriot takes their dying breath. So, if I'm the last Patriot, then Patriotism won't be dead for at least another 40 years. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the last Patriot. There are a few universities out there that aren't "Vipers' nests of Marxism." There are conservative universities out there. I went to one. Find one and send your kid there, and along the way YOU teach them how to be a Patriot so that I won't be the last one standing.

One big difference is that the folks who build the crrap for WalMart aren't in the media bad-mouthing the hand that feeds them.

Me too. Who're the ones that are actually uber-corrupt and envious of the wealth Capitalism facilitates? It's the ol' Pot calling the Kettle black. Also, Chan and PSY aren't Americans and I'm not sure what other American Asians you might be referring to, but she's referring to any Asians who make their living off our back and then grind on us with their boot heel. I won't watch another Chan movie and I've hated that irritating song by PSY that sounds like he tried to rip off 2Unlimited's "Get Ready for This."
The Presidential Election is sooo yesterday. Why keep droning on and on about Mittens? Let her get over her crush in peace. The Kwanzaa fake "celebration" is this week and a more current event than a former candidate who lost.
