Actually it is the House of Representatives who do the impeaching. After a President is impeached the Senate votes on whether he is guilty of the charges. If he is not found guilty he can retain his office. Clinton was impeached, but found not guilty by a liberal Senate. The evidence was conclusive that he was guilty of perjury, when he lied under oath about his relationship with you know who. It's a very time consuming and costly exercise. The wise thing to do is campaign effectively during the mid terms and take the Senate away from the control of the Dems and then Impeach.

They may declare all they like, but that doesn't make it law. Not much Congress can do because Obama says something. He's been lying to the American people for 6 years. Evidently there is no law against the President lying. There should be. When the Pres takes the oath of office it should include I will not lie to the American people and Congress should make that an impeachable offense for all elected officials.

I think he was saying that he believes that God could have used evolution when he created the world, I don't think he is saying that is what God did. I have agreed also that God could have used evolution, but the evidence is pretty clear that he didn't.

I don't understand why FDR is considered a great President. He was one of the worst. He did nothing to fix the depression and only made it worse. He used 'stimulus' money to "bribe" swing states to vote for him. Right after the election, he stopped the flow of money to those states and all of the people who voted for him because he got them jobs were unemployed again. He came up with a lot of New Deal ideas that only made things worse and prolonged the depression. For every government job he created, two or three private sector jobs were lost. He was the first President to use the IRS against his political enemies by having them audited or harassed by the IRS. Our Pres seems to be following the same play book.

It would have been smarter for FDR to come to the aid of the US allies much sooner, then a nuclear bomb would not have been necessary at all. If the US had stepped in right when Hitler started building an army which was against the terms of surrender after WWI. Or he could have started building up our army which would have helped the economy and stopped the Depression several years earlier. Maybe Japan wouldn't have attacked Hawaii if the US had stood by her allies. So Einstein encouraging FDR to start a nuclear program isn't as smart as encouraging FDR to keep the promises the US made to our allies or to stop with the New Deal ideas that did nothing to help improve the economy. Obama reminds me more of FDR then any other President.
Thanks for clarifying social Security as just another federal program and what is paid in for SS is a tax. We know politicians love to use any other word than tax when wanting us to pay taxes. If there was a savings account, then it would accrue interest. But it's just a regular tax like you pointed out. I'm going to share your article with friends who still don't get it and maybe they will get it now.

My husband retired last year so we moved to Costa Rica in hopes of making our retirement savings last longer. We can't afford the Golden State any more. In Costa Rica we are able to afford an ocean view home and we only need summer clothes, have no air conditioning, and eat the most delicious fruit in the world. Gasoline is expensive here, but we don't burn away fuel sitting in traffic. In fact the area we live in has very little traffic compared to CA. Imports are expensive, but labor costs are quite inexpensive. We are able to live a better lifestyle in the tropical rainforest along the pacific coast. If we weren't retired we would have to consider moving to Texas.

It's no more stupid then stupid people believing that stupid religions have no place in the 21st century. There is a lot of stupidity going on, why discriminate against one group?

what happened to freedom of religion protected by the constitution and the bill of rights.
You are so right, yet many intelligent people thing minimum wage is necessary. One argument I got was that a family of four can't survive on minimum wage. Well, minimum wage is supposed to be for those started out in the workforce. Someone with a couple of kids should not be working in a job that would pay minimum wage. When I was a teenager fast food places like McDonald's paid minimum wage and students often worked part time after school. So for fast food places to afford to pay their workers minimum wage they have to raise the price of their food. It's expensive to eat at a fast food restaurant now.
For his second re-election campaign FDR bribed state Governor's to back him with promises of Federal Funds for their state. Those who refused the bribes were then audited by the IRS or lies were spread about them in the media to destroy them. Message was - don't oppose FDR or you'll be sorry. Sound familiar?
