Who determines whether it is a 'highly respected scientific panel' or not. I guess they don't teach science in school anymore because Science is not based on how many scientists 'vote' in favor of something, but is based on recorded facts that can be reproduced by other scientists. It's also important to note that many scientists rely on funding from government agencies and they will produce any report that tells their backers what they want to hear in order to get more funding. Being a scientist doesn't automatically mean they are honest.
