I'd love to see a Top Kick, a Gunny, or a Master Chief in the White House. Senior noncoms know not only how to give orders, but also how to take them. They've spent their careers dealing with a chain of command, so they should have no problem understanding that the people rule. And they've had years of experience getting things done and being held accountable for failure.

Since we seem to be on a kick to put someone into our White House that is "historic", I think that it's about time that we put a Marine Gunny in come 2016.

Of all the presidents up to this point, we have never had a Marine.

The grotesque spectacle of the State of the Union address, with its lengthy receiving line of adoring sycophants, demonstrates why the President is operating under the delusion that he is more than just our President. Like him, many people seem to fundamentally misunderstand his role. He’s not our “leader,” or our “ruler,” or our national “daddy,” no matter what his adoring fan, comic Chris Rock, thinks.
