America's Fiscal Stupidity Mirrors Detroit

When I read "Atlas Shrugged" in 1975, I thought, "There's no way that could happen". Then Carter got elected, then Reagan spent us into debt, then we were told to read someone's lips, and Bill did more diddling than leading, and then there was the W. disaster, followed by the greater Obama monstrosity. Reagan said,"Government is the problem", then went about expanding it exponentially. People, start voting with your brains, not your hearts. This has got to stop, one way or another. If there was one state dedicated to following the Constitution, I would move there tomorrow.

We got something for Reagan's very small amount of debt ... great economic policy and winning the cold war with the soon to come dissolution of the evil empire! The W "disaster" is the kind of disaster I wish we could return to! Only an idiot doesn't grasp that the housing collapse which triggered all of this was a leftist invention and leftist supported unsustainable piece of idiotic policy ... which GWB tried to rein in but was blocked by the likes of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and other leftists in the congress!

True, you are correct. Can you say Jimmah Cahtuh, CRA (Community Reinvestment Act), and Slick Willie and Janet Reno, CRA on steroids?

Reagan spent us into debt? Federal revenues doubled under Reagan but the Democrat controlled Congress reneged on promised spending cuts.

Java: Where was Reagan's veto pen?
True Conservative! Wrote: Mar 02, 2013 11:49 AM
He vetoed quite a bit; but not EVERYTHING! Still, his deficits were well spent and produced results!

True: You're being a Reagan Apologist. Don't fall into the trap of believing what the media (even Fox news) tells you. I don't know what gets a president a kindly pass by historians, like FDR, LBJ, Abe, JFK, etc. And what gets them vilified, like Harding and silent Cal, but a look into their actual achievements and what they wrought is in order.

Ayn Rand was a refugee from the Soviet Union. "Atlas Shrugged" was her warnings to us of what would happen if socialists ever got control of our government.

It's predecessor, "The Fountainhead", was her warning to us of what would happen if socialists ever got control of private business.

Pretty cryptic there Jason. For readers not versed in Greek, I will translate. The 'kakis' in the above word comes from the Greek word 'kakos' which is translated as "Destructive Evil" !!

I love learning a new word. Brilliant. I'm actually surprised it is not in common usage, by the likes of Rush and Hannity.

It’s fitting that on the day Washington, DC is cutting the budget by an agreement that they really didn’t mean, that the city of Detroit will finally get what’s it has needed for a long time: declaration of fiscal disaster.

Michigan’s Rick Snyder has appointed an emergency city manager to do for Detroit what Obama, Biden, the UAW, GM, Chrysler, the city’s council and mayor have not been able to even with a $80 billion bailout of the automotive industry.

“Snyder’s decision comes after a state review team report concluded last week that Detroit is in a financial...
