There is a huge difference between a state trying a novel approach and the federal government mandating something for everybody. Has federalism been entirely lost? I have become convinced that people like Deece simply cannot see past their bigotry and are willing to bring the entire country down rather than allow a Mormon to succeed. I have been extremely slow to make this accusation, but this last article finally leaves me no doubt.

I have not been a Romney fan up to this point (though I will definitely support him over Obama) but this article is just ridiculous. Deece is either lying or incompetent when discussing Romney's record. Was Romney supposed to throw out the Supreme Court of Massachusetts when they voted to mandate Gay marriage? Romney converted to being pro-life while still Governor and vetoed stem-cell research, a move that was wildly unpopular in Massachusetts. Furthermore, the Romneycare plan was recommended by conservatives at the Heritage Foundation. Granted, many opposed it, but it was seen at the time as a conservative alternative to fix healthcare.
I would be interested to see the data broken down further. I have a feeling that of the 56% of young voters who said they will definitely vote, the Obama advantage goes down.
Try reading the constitution before blathering about it. Article I Section 8 States that "The Congress shall have Power...To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;". It does not mandate that Post Offices be available in every possible remote location, or even that there be a Post Office. It simply gives the Congress the authority to establish Post Offices if deemed necessary and proper. Good Government is about more than just abusing every possible power you can, sometimes it means restraint and if a Government agency needs to be reformed, that's what responsible people do.

The point is, by constantly harping on te accusation that Romney is not a Christian, Hengler is (either stupidly or intentionally) driving a wedge between evangelicals and Romney. What value is served by constantly calling The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a cult, but then throwing in a disgruntled "i will vote for him anyway?" All this does is bring division to the party.
Really? His standard for Mormons not being Christians is because they have received more revelation than simply the Old and New Testament? Since Catholics still use the Apocrypha, does that mean all the Catholics are non-Christian as well? Mormons look to Jesus Christ as their personal redeemer, and the sole source of their salvation. It is by His Grace and atonement alone that we are saved. I understand that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is very different from most other Christian denominations. But the central purpose of the church is to turn people to Christ and accept his sacrifice and Grace. This seems to be Christianity at its purest level.
This stuff needs to be confronted head on. Hopefully Romney won't make the same mistake as McCain and try to play nice with bullies and thugs.
No prophesies fulfilled? Just a few examples: The civil war erupting over slavery and starting in South Carolina. After the civil war, a New York newspaper ran an article about it titled: "A Prophet in our Midst?" Clearly, they believed there was something there. Joseph Smith also prophesied that the Saints would relocate to the Rocky Mountains, and make the desert bloom. He also prophesied that the membership of the Church would grow until it filled the world. Also happening. The Bible tells us that we should judge whether a person is a true or false prophet by their fruits. Joesph Smith has a left a legacy of millions of people growing closer to their Savior, Jesus Christ. I'd say that's a pretty good fruit.
Besides the doctrinal innacuracies of the article, BYU has had many non-Mormon speakers. Remember that dissention is of the devil, not God.
