Hysteria, emotionalism, disception, these are all that the liberal left has to work with. The tragedy is that far too many people allow themselves to be manipulated by their rantings. We have ceased teaching our youth to think logically and systematically.
What truly gives me sorrow is that our country is getting the kind of leadership it deserves. We have become a nation of pagans and self-serving hedonists; have ignored the admonitions of scripture; and have not just turned away from but also insulted God. I fear that Obama will be the instrument through which God brings our punishment for scoffing at His grace and turning to other gods.
Having troops in Afghanistan (and just as importantly an infrastructue to support them) makes strategic good sense. If Iran becomes beligerent they must look to the east as well as the west when planning their defences. In addition Pakistan, none too stable a place on the best of days, is within easy reach if it appears that internal foment might compromise the security of their nuclear weapons. Lastly it irritates the Russians and is reminder to them that they aren't nearly as powerful as they think they are. It's a tradeoff of dollars instead of blood and for those of us who have served it's a great investment.
WIth respects, it is the job (or at least should be) of the DoD to spend taxpayer dollars wisely and in that the DoD fails miserably. The only thing common to all DoD procurements is that they are over budget and delivered late. For example the Marine Corps is replacing some software and originally estimated the life costs at 126 million. They have already spent 632 million and the life cycle costs have ballooned to over 1.1 billion. What's worse is that the new software is far more complicated and doesn't even work as well as the software it replaces. You can spell the word 'waste" with the letters DoD.

Sir I concur with the gist of your post. Romney was a milktoast candidate in a country that thrives on drama, theatrics, and hyperbole. In order to beat Obama Mr. Romney had to play the same game, speak loudly, outrageously, even insultingly. By affording Obama, the man, the respect due to the office Romney came across as the underling and weak. If any president is underserving of that respect it is this current tyrant. Like it or not the "Hollywood Nation" stetches from coast to coast and the average American is an entertainment addict. Without passion the message was unheard.

Typical liberal mindset. The ranking is meaningless (besides being inaccurate) because it tries to correlate two dissimiliar realities. We can never know how many would-be murdrers controlled their passions and did not commit murder nor can we accurately determine what might have happened if everyone was armed. One thing is for sure, when people stop respecting the law then a sane populace will enact measures so that criminals fear it. We have neither in this country thus criminals are willing to play the odds.

Let's see...2 percent of Americans are already in jail. Another 2 to 4 percent have either been released or on on parole. The percentage of crooks not yet caught is legion yet we still debate the pros and cons of guns? The problem is a violence prone culture and a weak justice system. Our "scientists" have convinced us that capitol punishment is not a deterrent and that violence in movies is benign yet the USA is as violent as Zimbabwe.
Rarely has a president enjoyed the luxury of routinely spouting drivel, and getting away with it, as has this one. There is no downside for him no matter what he does or doesn't do. With the mass media filtering the narrative to suit the leftist ideology the conservatives can never get traction in the debate. The only hope left to us is that, probably very soon, the inevitable crash will occur and even Obama will be unable to hide from the blame. At that point all of the deceptions and distortions will avail nothing with sky-rocketing unemployment and inflation. Alas we are headed for a head-on collision with fiscal reality and the devastation will make the the moniker of the " 1929 Great Depression" to be reclassified as a mere trif
My take on the law is that it was provided to force man into examining his own soul and conscience. By looking at his own failures, in the light of the divine standard, man comes to realize both his own hopelessness and the need for God's forgivness. Where the heart seeks purity and conformance, not just to the letter of "the law" but to the spirit of the law, then the law itself becomes unnecessary. It does man no good to avoid stealing if, in his core, he still coveats or lusts after someone else's good. Likewise the act of adultary is already complete when a man allows attraction to turn into lust and fantasy about a woman, not his wife. Only the inhabitation of the spirit of God can begin the reprogramming of our minds and soul
