Yes, Virginia, There is a Surplus

How many actually living in Virginia are actually happy with the state they live in? I've been here for enough years to have developed a bad taste for Virginia. There is a lot of talk about support and programs for cancer patients and more. The truth? A real breast cancer patient with no job and no insurance was denied participation in any assistance program for breast cancer patients. Not to mention things that could have brought criminal charges to a theft of my things from my home when I was absent was never addressed by courts except to be refused & no assistance from "legal aid" on top of it all. Just talk. No aid. Never. Nice, Virginia.

Are the Poor Really Poor?

Five years ago while I had a job with a national breast cancer organization I could afford a house and other small frills. I went into a hospital for a reconstruction but lost that job a week before the surgery. My income went down by fifty percent! Even at that, I was managing only okay. Just scraping by. Then my ex retires and my alimony goes down by $400 a month! Poverty? Poor? Just because I have a paid for car and other nice things doesn't mean that I'm not poor now. I might not be able to use internet after today. I don't know if the feds will finally figure out what I should be getting for pension since my ex was a federal employee and not contributing to social security. Six months later, no changes. Aphasia...yes. No job.

Still? The very idea is something that can at least bring laughter in the midst of drama crap.

Anything aside a man and a woman should need to be married. There are all sorts of contracts available that would be binding just as much as being "married". Sometimes a relationship outside of marriage has been the tradition requires even more honor than marriage could. It can all be put in writing that would be better than some "marriages" anyway.

I call it "cow pasture pool". What point is there in a sport that doesn't really make you more fit or require fitness? Getting in a golf cart to go from hole to hole.....*mutters & grumbles*

I remember seeing a story somewhere about a couple Asian people wanting to start a business in this country but had to go through so many hoops that they gave up the idea and returned to their old country. All those hoops have a way to put others out of business or to discourage free market.

Sometimes the government goes a bit overboard. When I was trying to get a license in Georgia, I had been waiting in line for a long enough time and jumped enough hoops when I got to a point to take a sort of a road test done in a parking lot when it slightly rained and the test was cancelled. The rain had already stopped but seeing some people using wipers to get drops and dirt of windshields and some women wearing rain bonnets was the offical indicator of "rain" and a reason to cancel the tests. Doh. Stupidity in something like quantum leaps. If they can't test a driver in mild rain...or more like a bit of a misty rain, there is no test at all.

I've been through the same sort of thing as far as creating web sites. I would have to go to prove my skill with a degree or certificate through some course that I have had so much experience since the start of internet that I could teach the class and spend MY money to be able to earn money that way. I learned the hard way before web site authoring tools were on the market...loooong before Dreamweaver existed. Now, just a poor old lady searching for a freelance opportunity.

Geeze oh man....but to have the same education as a doctor of medicine? That is stupidity!
If his brains were dynamite, he'd not even be able to classify as a firecracker.
