Whatis the mandate tax? Anyone know?

The government can't force you to buy broccoli, but they can tax you if you don't and can force you to pay the tax. It's a distinction without a difference, as Roberts must have known.

I was asking the dollar amount for the mandate tax. Anyone know?
Earl29 Wrote: Dec 30, 2012 10:58 AM
Sorry, Mary, I'm a philosopher, not a bookkeeper. Just kidding; I misunderstood your question.
Earl29 Wrote: Dec 30, 2012 10:59 AM
Somewhere around 600 bucks, I think.
DoctorRoy Wrote: Dec 30, 2012 11:05 AM
So I could drop the coverage i have at work which is costing me over 400 dollars a month and just pay the 600 dollars at the end of the year and be covered?
Earl29 Wrote: Dec 30, 2012 11:06 AM
BTW, on questions of cost, it's probably better to start with "How much . . .?"
mary964 Wrote: Dec 30, 2012 11:36 AM
You are right. I didn't phrase my question very well!

the annual flat dollar amount phased in—$95 in 2014, $325 in 2015, and
$695 in 2016 and beyond (adjusted for inflation),7 assessed for each taxpayer
and any dependents

far cheaper than actually paying overpriced premiums to subsidize insurance executives - and since you can no longer be turned down for any reason it make far more sense to pay the tax and only purchase insurance when it becomes necessary
restoreliberty Wrote: Dec 30, 2012 12:00 PM can pay the tax but you still will not have coverage, which is exactly why there will NOT be 40 million additional people covered by insurance, the premiums will be far too high for the average American worker and they will continue to forgo coverage - absolutely ZERO problems solved - the pukegressive way

Well technically everyone has coverage since you can't be denied treatment at the emergency room. So basically what we are talking about here is ending the free ride that folks get when they visit the emergency room for everything from a gunshot wound to post nasal drip and then skip out on the bill?

Americans know instinctively that when liberals start talking about deficit reduction that’s it’s just a case of the fantods, as Huckleberry Finn would say. And say what you will about old Huck, but he knew a couple of frauds when he saw them.

No matter what liberal “Wonks” like Ezra Klein say about the historically dumb healthcare “reform” known as Obamcare, Americans are uneasy about it.

And they should be.

More and more law-abiding Americans say that they have constitutional objections to the healthcare and liberty land grab by the Obama administration.

Coming next? It could be guns! ...
