Based on profs' comments to students, and based on what I heard in classrooms a number of years ago tells me that universities are on their way OUT, and that may be one of the best things to happen to education in my lifetime. It sounds as though those getting "professor jobs" are the illiterates from various city ghettoes, NOT from any refined and educated family. Not that one has to be refined , but profs DO need to be educated, not brainwashed. I wouldn't send a chile to university in today's world for any amount of money. I'd hire her/him a tutor!

Absolutely, Dyadd. Exactly the only reason I left the republican party after 50 years of supporting it. I signed up with Libertarians who at least defend what they believe. The GOP has VERY FEW conservatives in office.......and never will have as long as they are scared of the Dems.

And don't forget all the money being sent to Kenya to "improve their schools." And all the money we spend to arm the drug cartels in Mexico. And all the money we spend to hire terrorists to guard our embassies in the M.E. And all the handouts to illegal aliens being imported to vote democrat.

You are absolutely right, but I would change the first sentence just a tad, to read, "They KNEW that they were untouchable and could say whatever they liked." Given that the Administration owns the mainstream media, the Senate, the courts, the Attorney General, all the government agencies, departments, and bureaus, why shouldn't all the actors within the government feel perfectly secure? They have nothing to lose, and they know it, and they act accordingly. I am totally disgusted with what we stupidly call our "government".

But it's the best they can come up with. Thinking of a new name is entirely too much to ask of politicians or the media.

An excellent article! My hat is off to these three HONEST American diplomats who have had to put up with the imbeciles now in office. What hell their most recent service to our nation must have been - to be there, to witness the unforgiveable incompetency of our officials who were supposedly elected and supposedly vetted, but who seem more like the jihadists than they seem like Americans. The ignorant and the serfs of the Democrat Party will do as they are told by their Party, no matter if it carts them to the ovens once they are no longer useful. This Administration and it's appointees (useful idiots comes to mind) are in overdrive to get all done that they MUST get done in order to crown Obama King without having to put up with citizens' objections and throwing cold water on their grand scheme. Not a day goes by that we don't hear of some additional atrocity this Administration is chaining us to......and they WILL NOT QUIT. This is a form of religion to them, and NOTHING within legal parameters will stop them. No politician, no court, no government body will be able to stop them without incarcerating them, and that is not about to happen. So.....it seem to me that we either commit crimes to stop this insanity, or we let them have their way.

That is indeed ' how Obama's thugs roll." I am 74 years old, have followed politics faithfully for over half a century, and I have seen corruption, crime, and misdeeds within various administrations, but this is the first administration and the first Congress that I have viewed as street thugs, unfit for decent company, and I see every one of them as sociopaths, indeed, some of them seem to be in need of medication. They are evil, but they are also stupid and crass with no saving graces. Most of them have all the positive attributes of the average gang-banger street gangs.

Another good word that is losing its effectiveness because of the left's misuse of it is "responsibility". Suddenly it is MY responsibility to see to it that pregnant teen agers get the best of help - or the best of abortions. It is MY responsibility to see to it that every worker receives an "adequate wage". Total misuse of the word, I believe to destroy the real meaning of the word as well as to REMOVE responsibility from the one it belongs to.

Sowell hits it out of the park every time he speaks! Government and its minions are responsible for all these "words" that are meaningless when used to extract money from other people or when the are used to "equalize" everyone's integrity, honesty, or income. I believe the use of all those words are dreamed up by scholarly types who don't actually work for a living, but who live off the efforts of the rest of the world. True outcomes do NOT matter to them. Their only interest is in themselves.

I don't believe any of Obama's voters understood the meaning of "fundamental change". They just thought it was political jargon to make Obama sound intelligent, and I don't believe most of his voters understand yet what he is doing to our country. If they DO understand and still vote for him, they are complicit.
