Carol - Thanks for your courageous statements about our candidates and the issues related to family planning. I am a 50 year active Republican woman and I saw Colorado Republicans lose the last critical election because the opposing party and the media got Ken Buck to make an off hand remark regarding a contstituional amendment concerning life beginning at conception. This led to tons of signs posted throughout Jefferson County, annd others as well, concerning womens right to control "their own bodies." 'Amale campaign worker who was doing last minute vote reminder calls, said women he called were yelling at him over this issue--League of Women voters and Planned Parenthood then mobilized a lot of independent voters who defeated...

DeRanger is right on, except for one item that I have to disagree with. ie:"The only conceivable thing that would have definitely ended Hitler's plan was if the Soviet Union had acted in concert with Britain and France and moved decisively against Germany." We might have ended Hitler's plan a lot faster if we hadn't waited so long to aid England. Roosevelt was providing some help to our allies through "Lend Lease," but the Germans started attacking the convoys of supply ships as they moved through the Atlantic. It took a while for us to get our defense production revved up thanks to our denial of hostility toward our own country.

We lived in Great Falls, MT in '43, a place where Russian pilots came to pick up American planes to...

I was actually alive during WW2, and even as a 10 year old I was very much afraid of what might happen to my country. The fact that the media and the government freely advertised how evil and threatening the Axis coalition was--would now be derided as "fear mongering."

Actually, Roosevelt could not get the American House or Senate to go to war until Japan hit Pearl Harbor. Many people rationalized that we were not physically threatened by Germany--therefore we should let Hitler have Europe and then deal with him thru diplomatic channels (at that time the bombers that were crushing England and others of our allies could not reach our continent without refueling.) Enemy submarines were casing out our coasts--but "Hey, no...

Liberals and Scientific Method

In all the discussion, I rarely see a fact that should be seriously considered by true scientists-1. THE EARTH HAS BEEN WARMING EVER SINCE THE LAST ICE AGE. Any geologist who drives through Montana can see evidence of major glaciation, and terminal moraines left as the glaciers receded

2. Methods of researching temperature levels are far more precise with todays space technology--measuring ancient temp indirectly surely must have an "error factor" that increases with the age of core samples and the small number of sites that have been analyzed.

I am not a "climate scientist" I'm a microbiologist married to a forester who volunteered on museum paleontolgy digs for recreation. They uncovered a crocodile skeleton in the...
When I heard one of Obama's early speeches I thought he had real leadership potential, but in successive speeches and interviews he nearly always said "I can do that" Not "we," or "our leadership" or "congress and I" can do it-- Just "I"(OBMA)! This showed an impractical and naive idea of what a president can-and can't-do.It seemed he had no concept of "we, the people." Intelligent-yes, practical and realistic-no. He was supported by liberals, not only for his philosophy, but because they FINALLY had an "intellectual" (whatever that means) to vote for. Never mind his arrogance and inexperience. His anger at challenges is obvious every time he's confronted by opposition. His health care conference will never change his mind cause he...

I always thought "dont ask don't tell" was an improvement, since before that gays were considered non-recruitable. The only way that gays can "tell" what they are is by how they have sex, and sex between military men and women on duty is supposed to be subject to discipline, isn't it?

Ask they average enlisted sailor how they'd feel about triple bunking with gays who were demonstrating their preferences--and if they don't demonstrate them then they are doing the "don't tell" drill anyway. Let's leave things the way they are until we have a peace time military again.
