Sure. Let's keep things like the were because the compassionate conservatives, aided by hospitals, HMOs and big pharma were doing such a stellar job! You wouldn't know a socialist if one bit you in the butt. When a few major corporations control the country's entire health care system and do so in such a way that "healthcare" becomes all about "profit," then give me an alternative, and if you want to call it socialism, I'm good with that.

Right. Government should do less because the compassionate Republicans who are in the pockets of big healthcare organizations and big pharma will all do the right thing, as the vast body of empirical data suggests. Ha! You're delusional! Wake up.

Let's not forget the best oxymoron of all: "Compassionate Conservative."

Alcohol is not an essential item one needs to live; health care is, or perhaps you don't see the difference, an indication that you're probably drinking a bit too much.

Cal Thomas: Your doctor lost the right to whine about his job and income when through his silence he and other MDs allowed hospitals, HMOs and pharmaceutical companies to rape the American public and force families experiencing catastrophic illness to go bankrupt. Explain to me why I can go into a grocery store, or tire shop or burger joint and look at a menu that tells me exactly how much the goods or services cost while a hospital isn't obligated to list it's prices, and instead negotiates with for-profit insurance companies to see how much they can hose unsuspecting American public. If we had a single payer system like they do in every other first-world country on earth, this would not be an issue.Good riddance to Dr. Curry!
