When I was a teacher and had no choice about dues being taken out automatically myself and many others were disgusted that despite all the money spent on campaigns the union books claimed less than 15 dollars were spent on political issues. We would have left in numbers like WI public union workers are because I didn't mind paying for negotiation meetings but not all the state and local efforts that were in direct opposition to my political views. The groups and people that point out union opposition is over the mandatory dues have pinpointed exactly why the union people, not all the workers or teachers, work so hard not to let right to work laws pass.

The U.S. Supreme Court, in a hat tip to common sense, decided yesterday that nonunion members can opt out of union fees that are targeted towards political purposes.
“Labor unions must give nonmember workers ‘fresh notice’ of unplanned increases in fees or assessments -- money that might be used for political purposes -- the Supreme Court ruled Thursday,” according to CNN.

For labor unions around the country, it serves as a painful reminder that when they decided to go all-in for Obama in 2008, they alienated the rest of us non-government, non-union members- the 99 Percent- who have to go...
