just for the record, medicare was prepaid by the recipients for their entire working lives. The politicians blew the money, a similar action by private insurance managers would have them in prison.

First of all, you have be pretty spaced out to believe a herd of 20,000 were sick and old, and apparently all of their off spring also. And they just happened to be where the wolves were planted.

Actually w have somewhere around a thousand griz in the GYE in Montana and Wyoming. Two Park County Schools in Wyoming have fences built around them to keep the griz off the school grounds. The Wapati school and the Valley school. Both are 20 miles or so from Cody
Ooops, this was not to reply to you Johnny, but to danderson.
I guess you are not aware that politically correct animals do no damage, and that there is no connection between a rancher raising beef and a steak or hamburger.
One more thing, enviros do not pay anything for destroyed livestock, and have not for several years. Even when they did, they only paid a small part of the loss. There had to be enough of the animal left to determine the extreme trauma from a wolf kill as opposed to another predator. Many ranchers even if approved had to wait as much as 3 years for payment. Their costs did not wait.
You must think the elk population was in really bad shape to believe 11,000 and their offspring were sick or old.
That should have been 80 pups killed in the early days. The fact remains there are as many wolves in Yellowstone today as the total number of naturally occurring wolves killed over nearly 20 years that supposedly wiped them out.
Actually I cannot recall seeing any starving elk prior to the importation of Canadian wolves. Now it is hard to find elk and they are often ratty looking simply because they are not allowed to graze due to constant pressure form the wolves. Early park managers killed a total of 56 adult wolves and 8 pups over a period of nearly 20 years. A total of 35 adult wolves were introduced into Yellowstone in a one year period (the others were planted in Idaho). There was at least one documented pack inside of Yellowstone at the time of the plant. A coyote hunter killed one of a 5pack just outside of Yellowstone in 1985 mistaking it for a coyote. The DNA matched nothing they had a record of and may have been a member of the supposedly extinct Irremotus. It was closer to the size of a coyote than the Canadian imported wolves. Despite claims by NPS another wolf was also photographed on a carcass prior to the plant. Still another wolf was roped and put in a horse trailer for NPS agents to pick up near Pinedale soon after the plant, it was not one of the Canadian wolves and NPS refused to allow DNA to be done on it and it was shipped to Texas where it died. Count up the tax dollars spent and "research" dollars and it I easy to understand why those getting all of that money want to keep it coming. There were only about 3500 elk left when they counted 2 years ago and that is clear up into Montana. They quit in the middle of the count last year and stated "little change" from the prior year. Will there be a count this year?????

Thank you again for another on target article Dr. Sowell. Why oh why cannot our so called leaders see and understand what they are doing to our country? Unless they are counting on these refuges to be able to vote illegally, what can they possibly hope to gain?
Actually as a governor, Walker has experience that Obama never acquired in his 15 minutes in the senate prior to the presidency. Obama's one qualification was the ability to give a speech.....and that pretty much sums up what he has grown into. I don't believe there is the slightest doubt that he hates much of America and what she stands for. He even uses Blacks for pawns, he certainly has not improved their education, work, or standard of living.
