So, you think that the only way a person can be a hero is to get killed in war? Get you name on a war memorial? Well, it happens that one of the names on the Vietnam War Memorial is a young Corporal in my platoon; a friend of mine. One night, he put his M-16 in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Do you think he was a hero? I don't; as much as I liked him. We talked a lot. He had a death wish ... really. I can't get excited by the question of whether Senator Robert Menendez had sex with a prostitute in Central America. It is her word against his -- and when it comes to a prostitute's word against a politician's word, that is too close to call.
