Since a college degree is the new high school diploma why do kids expect to hold out for a managerial position instead of working at the local grocery? College degrees in liberals studies are worthless.

TRUE, but try to get these kids to understand that. They have been lied to for years about the value of a college degree. They have been taught, as even I was, that an Associates or Bachelors degree in "Studies" is far more valuable than, say, an MBA in Business, or Economics, or any other field that CAN get them the high paying position they crave. But not right out of college as they have also been deluded to believe.

I'm not sure I agree. With an MBA and an engineering degree I've been out of work for 2.5 years after working successfully for 40 years. If I had children, I'd encourage them to be a welder or go to college for Political Science. I know, we always laughed at those in PilySci because they had nothing real to learn/contribute. Now I'm wishing I had been taught how to complete forms for "grants", start useless "non-profits" and otherwise scam the country.

As a political science major, I resent the implication that the degree is useless. I learned about how the world works, how to analyze information and critical thinking. I learned how to write well, speak publicly and persuasively, and gained the confidence that comes with being educated. I have been spared being a conservative, dependent on others to do my thinking for me. That's worth something.

I've worked with a number of engineers and they're not impressive, intellectually at least. It's a trade degree, like welding.

You really are quite full of yourself, aren't you?

You'll allow us to be skeptical about your abilities regarding analyzing information, writing well, and critical thinking in light of your comments here I hope.

Obama appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s show this past week and did a slow jam with Fallon and his house band—a brilliant move by the Entertainer-in-Chief. I thought it was both funny and smart.

From a comedy perspective, it was well-written and well-performed by Obama, Fallon and The Roots. In terms of cleverness, it was shrewd in that the young people who watch Jimmy’s show probably don’t—or won’t—follow the manifold ways BHO has hammered the U.S. through his policies, and the majority of them love to laugh.

Ignorance + a Funny Bone = Ripe Pickings for the President.
