We do pay police officers to protect our cities. So what is the big deal about them watching the schools instead of focusing on traffic violations and donut shops.

Up here in the Tacoma area, we do have cops whose only job is to go to a school. However, these are specific schools where, so to speak, minorities rule.

We got some elementary schools in N.H. with armed (sometimes concealed) resource officers. We need to keep in mind that the mission in the case of the grade-school resource officer has much less to do with gang violence and drugs. With the right training they are very unobtrusive.

If it were possible, I would add a couple of retired or former military teachers carrying concealed (trained and on the same page, of course) as a reaction force, but that's just me.
