A Religious Test for 2012?

There are wide differences of beliefs even within those who call themselves Christians. But there should be some basics that all, or almost all, of them will agree on. When it comes to politics the basics should be Right to Life; Marriage between one man and one woman; and allowing parents to decide what to, and what not to teach their children - at the very least. I would vote for anyone who stands for those principles, be it Christian, or Jew. I can't imagine anyone who is an atheist, or a Muslim or just about any other religion I can think of, standing up for those principles. Of course they would also need to know a lot of other things, like how to get us out of debt, and not be afraid to get rid of things we can get along...

Keep Jesus Out of Your Socialism

okieflash - Jesus hasn't come back yet. When He came the first time it was not to help anyone, it was to die for everyone - not just Israel. When He comes the second time, it will again be for everyone who will follow Him.

The Government Job-Training Juggernaut

David - so you are saying that 20 percent of federal employees make more than 100,000 per year, and that 80 percent make less than 100,000 per year. Don't know where you got your figures, but that doesn't sound so bad to me. I worked for the feds for 22 years and never received more than 55,000 per year, and those generous benefits were not just given to us, we had to pay for them, which came out of our salaries, (not added to). I'm still paying for my own health insurance and life insurance, so a big chunk still comes out of my retirement of only about 14,400 per year. Because Social Security was only taken out for about the last 11 years, I only get a little under 900 per month. I only retired 3 years ago, so my salary was pretty...

English for Immigrants

I can tell you for certain that I didn't get a promotion at work because I didn't speak Spanish, but another employee who I actually helped train, got the promotion even though her English was very hard to understand. When I was helping with her training, I didn't think she was going to make it, because our jobs required we answer phones and help people who needed help from our agency. There were many complaints from people who could not understand her. I can understand someone who speaks Spanish fluently may have a preference, (in certain positions), over someone who doesn't speak it, but when you are working for the Federal Government, I personally believe you should also be able to speak English fluently. Her promotion did get...

Why Collective Bargaining Is Bad

Marian52 Wrote: Mar 03, 2011 12:55 PM
Mr. Rich - I'm pretty sure you don't have your facts straight. I worked for the Federal Government for 22 years, and my salary, and everyone else's salary who was working in my office, was no where near what you are saying it is, even with the benefits, (we had to help pay for). I'm also pretty sure most of us, (if not all of us), could be considered an "average" Federal employee. I don't know who the "average" Federal employees you have in mind, unless you are talking about the higher up DC politicians, and appointees. Also, if you had been listening to Fox News lately, you would know that the Feds do not have collective bargaining, (which explains a lot to me). You are not required to join the union, and if I ever work for them...
