I take it you work for a research laboratory of some kind? Everyone wants spending cuts except to the programs that they benefit from, and increases in taxes as long as they are someone else's taxes.

This piece came out in yesterday's Wall Street Journal, but its content is too important to let it glide past without sufficient amplification.
