The Oil Leak's Silver Lining?

I've respected your national security analyses over the years, Mr. Gaffney, but ethanol and methanol and other alternative fuels are alternatives to nothing so much as common sense. Make that "economic sense," since knowledge of the rudiments of economics seems to be so scarce.

As others have pointed out above, ethanol must be transported by truck or rail as it is so corrosive it cannot be transported in existing pipelines. Oh, so all we have to do is build a NEW pipeline system from the Midwest to the rest of the country. That couldn't cost much, right Mr. Gaffney?

And let's see: corn is raised by tractors running on diesel and gasoline. I know! Let's just convert those tractors to ethanol! Woohoo! Sort of like...
