Actually, the Brit system DOES have death panels, called the Liverpool Care Pathway. Essentially, this amounts to withholding life continuance measures in cases where a team of professionals deem that will not offer a good chance of recovery. Of course, cost of prolonged life continuance comes into this decision. Basically, the patient is dosed with pain killers, but then left to dehydrate to death. And the family is not necessarily informed or warned of what is happening to their loved one. It is an entirely bureaucratic decision. Nice prospect, eh?

I’m not a fan of the American healthcare system. It suffers from huge inefficiencies because of problems such as third-party payer, which is caused by government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid along with a system of tax code-driven over-insurance in the supposedly private sector.
