No need for that virus. Democrats are permanently comatose.
DWS is wonderful! For the Republican party, that is. Long may she chair the DNC.
All of the above. Some doctors quit, and many more would-be doctors change their minds, because it isn't worthwhile to be a doctor any more. Millions of people who would hesitate to go to the doctor with every minor ailment, if they were paying for service, flock in for medicals once it is "free". Plus, above all, within the total health care industry budget, an ever increasing proportion goes to pay for bureaucracy rather than treatment. That, after all, is what government does well: make jobs for paper shufflers. The outcome is that costs keep rising, but less and less is spent on medicine.
Actually, the Brit system DOES have death panels, called the Liverpool Care Pathway. Essentially, this amounts to withholding life continuance measures in cases where a team of professionals deem that will not offer a good chance of recovery. Of course, cost of prolonged life continuance comes into this decision. Basically, the patient is dosed with pain killers, but then left to dehydrate to death. And the family is not necessarily informed or warned of what is happening to their loved one. It is an entirely bureaucratic decision. Nice prospect, eh?
I'm a Brit. I've lived in the US for about 35 years, but also retain a home on the other side of the pond. The British National Health Service (socialized health care) was instituted when I was a child. I've lived with it for most of my time, but still recall medicine before the NHS. One becomes resigned to accepting socialized health care, because realistically there is no option. One knows, however, that quicker and better treatment is available elsewhere. And that life support will be removed earlier than elsewhere. Sad.
In fairness, Roger Nash Baldwin apparently did change his mind about the "Communism is the goal" part ... at least in respect to communism as practiced in Stalin's Russia. Out of what seems to have been a genuine change of heart, Baldwin did eventually led the campaign to purge the ACLU of its communist party members.
If that is what you believe, nimh1, then you should vote for Obama. By word and deed, Obama has shown that he despises America's allies, and bends over backwards to embrace America's enemies. Romney, as President, will stand with our loyal allies. And that category includes Israel.
Obama's contortions in congratulating himself for the doubling of gasoline prices under his administration is another instance of the Pony and the Manure. He wants us to believe that gas prices have rocketed up because he has been so successful in pulling the economy out of recession. The truth is, gas prices continue to zoom simply because the Obama administration continues to pump out more and more increasingly worthless Dollar bills from the printing presses. Oil producers know that they should now be getting $2 for what they were selling, in 2008, for $1.
Mark Davis makes excellent points, offers a winning framework for Romney to use in the 3rd "Foreign Policy" debate. But, in order to win, Romney also needs to adjust his technique. In the 2nd debate, Romney too frequently saved his punch lines for the final moments of each topic. Normally, that would be good in terms of impact. But with a hostile "moderator", it allowed Romney to be silenced before he could deliver the punch lines. I doubt that Bob Schieffer will be as blatantly biased as was Candy Crowley. But why take the risk? Romney should hit Obama hard with his best punches at the start, not at the end, of each topic segment.

The entire 2nd debate was a sham, designed in collusion between Candy and the Obama campaign in an attempt to discredit Romney. The selection of audience, the selection of questions, the disgracefully one-sided "moderation" from Candy, and above all her conspiracy with Obama to trap Romney on the Benghazi question, all point to only one possible conclusion: - After Obama's debacle in the 1st debate, something -- anything -- had to be done to get his campaign back into contention. This is the filthiest, most corrupt piece of "journalism" I've ever encountered.

I agree entirely with you Sfitz. The sequence of events shows that this had to be a deliberate ambush, set up by Obama and Candy. Not only ludicrously improbable notion that Candy just happened to have with her the transcript of an otherwise obscure Rose Garden speech from weeks ago, but the impossibility of Obama knowing that Candy had the transcript -- unless it was preplanned collusion. Add to this the smug certainty with which Obama urged Romney to "proceed" into his trap, and Michelle's instant outburst of applause from the audience, at the very moment that the trap was sprung. The entire 2nd debate was a concocted sham, concerted between Obama, Crowley and the debate organizers.
