The Arrogant and the Ignorant

I believe that any political party promising to introduce Term Limits (for example, maximum two consecutive terms) would be elected in a landslide.

But I suspect that the last time any government did anything in that spirit was back in 1640's England, with the "Self Denying Ordinance". True, the wretched Long Parliament that enacted the ordinance was not imposing Term Limits on itself; merely denying military command to its members. But, heck, it is the only instance that I can recall in which swinish politicians denied themselves anything whatsoever.

Cal's article doesn't actually go far enough in its condemnation of despicable, selfish behavior by politicians. What about the inflation-proofed pensions and vastly...
Art from NH's allusion to the Fourth Reich is apt. Many leading German industrialists endorsed and aided financially Hitler's rise to power in 1930's Germany. They thought that they could control and benefit from a Nazi regime.
They were, of course, mistaken. Owens should have read some history along with his economics.
But, then, he is an arrogant elitist.

As David Limbaugh says, “...if you understand liberals at all, you know that they'll never agree to market-based solutions for ideological reasons and because an expanding dependency class is their most essential power source.”

And that is the point of Obama administration’s entire push for “health care (or insurance) reform”. Improving health care coverage is merely an excuse. It’s a device, employed successfully throughout most of the western world, to cloak a socialist transformation of a nation. “Success”, of course, applies only to the introductory maneuver. The population stuck with the consequences are left scratching their heads and wondering why they need to be paying all those extra unionized bureaucrats to provide...
to Andrew.

Judging by the voting pattern amongst my kids under the age of 35, I believe that Andrew is right on target when he says that: “...the reason that I, my friends, and my generation voted for Obama: the culture war. We are for gay marriage, maintaining legal abortion, broader immigration laws, racial tolerance, and diplomacy. The social conservatism and evangelical Christianity of the Bush years made us sick, and this is the payback.” Three out of my four kids voted for Obama for precisely those reasons (except, maybe, broader immigration laws). So my compliments go to Andrew for nailing the motivation behind his generation’s voting pattern.

However, as the original article and many commentators note, the price...

Cancel the UN's lease in Manhattan. Offer Gitmo as a much more appropriate site for UN deliberations instead.
