Boehner and McConnell are fools for playing the Democrat game. The Democrat plan has absolutely nothing to do with deficit reduction or debt reduction. It is pure demagoguery designed to have Republicans oppose the plan so that they can be blamed for the failure. Put Obama's plan before the House and let it pass by only Democrat votes - Republicans vote "PRESENT". Ried knows the plan will cause financial ruin and he will be compelled to stop the charade in the Senate, blocking their own plan. It can only fail, so why get involved? Just to take blame? Fools!
