Abortion is such a red herring issue. Until Roe is overturned, there is absolutely nothing that a president can do about it. NEVER telegraph views on USSC appointments. On rape and incest, ringer issues designed to tank Republicans, wax philosophical. They are horrendous crimes of violence against women, but the baby is an innocent. Until the nation has a conversation on the matter of taking an innocent life as punishment for the original crime, and also discusses the impact of killing the baby on the unwilling mother, these are not political issues, they are moral and philosophical issues that each candidate should be willing to initiate. Take the high road and duck the issue. I am a very active pro life catholic,

but I am also a realist. The issues are designed to destroy Republicans and will not advance pro life. If anything, they serve the interest of the kill your baby crowd by casting pro lifers as extremest..

Akins' comment was ignorant. He lost because he made an ignorant comment.

Let's not sugarcoat it: we got our teeth kicked in on Tuesday. Sure, we added governorships and held our ground in the House, but we went backwards in the Senate and lost to an out-of-touch, incompetent, petty man who centered his campaign around Mitt Romney's bank account and Big Bird. We didn't get beaten by Bill Clinton in a great economy; we got beaten by another Michael Dukakis in the midst of a terrible economy. On the upside, if people have ever wondered what Jimmy Carter's second term would have looked like, then they're about to find out.
