As usual, Carrie Lukas nails it. Re: Republicans' “war on women": First, watch Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney evade and shift as CNN's Anderson Cooper patiently presses for straight answers from someone who apparently is not pressed very often: http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/27/ac360-invu-with-rep-carolyn-maloney-the-war-on-women/ Now see: "Will the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act Help Women?" at http://malemattersusa.wordpress.com/2011/12/03/will-the-ledbetter-fair-pay-act-help-women/

If global warming is real, it is real for very different reasons than those proffered by Al Gore and company. Read Chapter 5 of "Superfreakonomics" and you'll see.

Re: "However, the media, intelligentsia, academia, etc. (i.e. the 'left' - big surprise!) felt the need to bring down men at the same time" Exactly. In the culture (movies, sitcoms, commercials...), women are cast as being just as competent as -- sometimes more competent than -- men in the world of work. But in the world of children, men are usually cast as being not just less competent than women, but as buffoons and idiots. In other words, women are wonderful and men are losers. I'm reminded of the attacks on Walmart as a sort of low-paying sweatshop in the U.S. It's as if the attackers think the retail giant sends out goons with weapons to bring in people and force them to work. Hardly. Every time a new Walmart opens, hundreds of people line up at the door hoping to become employed or to upgrade from gas-station or party-store work. The Titanic: The "women and children first" rule cost the lives of many of the children aboard the ship, especially in third class. For every woman seated in the boat, possibly two children perished. See the list at http://titanic-children.webs.com/lostchildren.htm, and cry your eyes out. Would a better rule be: Children first (with two accompanying adults), then the children's mothers, then single women (with the understanding that this can be hard to sort out when a ship is sinking!)? For an example of the ultimate female power, see the Titanic reference in "The Untold Side of the Gender Story at http://www.battlinbog.blog-city.com/the_untold_side_of_the_gender_story.htm

Re: "From Tawana Brawley, Mumia and the Central Park rapists, to the Duke lacrosse players and Karl Rove, liberals are always on the wrong side of a criminal case" With regard to gender, liberals, especially feminists, seem utterly incapable of admitting that a woman, especially a young attractive woman, is guilty of a crime. Why should men take women's s opinions seriously, if feminists do not take women's violence seriously? After all, violence is merely an opinion acted out. Re DSK: "This miscarriage of justice exhibits all the hallmarks of a society that tolerates sexual violence by blaming and shaming the survivors -- but the real shame belongs with the perpetrators and the prosecutors who allow them to walk off scot-free" Because of its sexism, NOW simly cannot accept that a man could be innocent of a woman's accusation. If China wants to curb the abortions of females, a starting place would be to get rid of its law that lets parents sue their sons for financial support but not their daughters. If you lived in a country with no social security income and your only support in old age came from a son, which gender would you prefer in a one-child policy? Moreover, millions of rural parents see a son as a better-equipped mule who will be more efficient at doing hard-labor farm work. And more efficient at being cannon fodder when defending the country in times of war. Until China deals with such practical reasons as these for the male preference, millions of females will continue "to disappear" no matter how much we Westerners lament the tragedy.

Wal-Mart Case Is a Victory for Consumers

Great column! What goes unremarked upon, on both sides of the case, is that about 70 percent of Walmart's hourly jobs in its retail stores have all along been held by women — which is discrimination FOR women, or, worded differently, discrimination against men. Suppose 70 percent of the company's hourly employees were men and most of the managers were women. Since women's advocates now ignore Walmart's current, real hiring discrimination against men, doesn't this mean the advocates would ignore women's dominance in Walmart's management and claim that a 70-percent male hourly staff proves hiring discrimination against women, especially unskilled minority women who most need these entry-level jobs? Wouldn't this hiring discrimination in...
