Hi, I to want bad teachers and administrators to get the axe, but it isn't that simple. There are some bad teachers, but from what I see, most are pretty good. The real problem is the burgeoning administration that never cuts itself off. We have way too many bureaucrats that just push paper around, and really are not needed. What is needed is common sense, but I really think common sense died a few years ago. Vouchers is a start, but many parents, believe it or not, do not give a care about their kids education. Many are just to busy with their own narcisstic lives to give a hoot about junior, plus junior in many cases does not care either. If no one cares, then it is no wonder why much of the population is so stupid.
I am currently a substitute teacher in one of the largest districts in Florida. I agree that unions are a major problem. To state otherwise would be laughable, but what I really do not like about our politicians and how they intend to fix education is always a quick fix solution. Republicans, or the majority of them want to cut teachers pay, introduce merit pay, etc. The democrats want teachers to perform miracles along with teaching. Teach, coach , mentor, go to tons of meetings that really are useless in terms of effective teaching, etc. etc. Teachers are overburdened with quite a bit of work, though you would not know it from listening to those who think they can fix the schools. From what I see, there are some poor teachers, but...

Hey RomanLion- I can understand you dislike of Palin, due to her inarticulateness, ie., uh, er, etc. She has a whiney voice, and you can tell that she is not a formal public speaker, but I have to say that the majority of our politicians are awful when it comes to public speaking. Most need to join a local Toastmasters group, including our president. He is fantastic with a script in front of him, but off the recoers, he says um, er, et all way to much.

I did not hear what Palin had to say, so I can only glean that she said something that some people find offensive and stupid, while others find it brilliant. I, for one think Palin isn't the brightest person in the world, but she is no slouch either. So she didn't go to one of the Ivy league schools- who cares. Her major problem is that she has a whiney voice, does not articulate her thoughts as well as many. (I have this problem to), but her biggest problem is that she is a conservative republican who comes from a backwater state. (I don't think Alaska in any way is backwater, but I am sure that many people who live within the beltway do). That is just the way it is? Why do brain surgeons like Obama blurt out he has been campaigning in...

I graduated from high school in 1977, and that was a lifetime ago, as were the 1970's. I happened to graduate from a private school, but most of my friends went to public, and it was different then. The local public school had band, shop, cooking, acting, art, and a slew of electives, and they graduated kids who could for the most part read and write. Let's fast forward to today in a public high school. They still have sports for the athletes, but only some have band, and most have done away with any type of shop, or hands on type of instruction. Everyone is forced to take regular education classes, and we graduate students who are anything but regular today. Many can't read, write, and they can do the most basic math, and we wonder...

You are 100% correct. The left wing who runs our schools loves group think, as opposed to individuality. They teach it, they live it, and as a result our country dithers into oblivion. Pretty scary.

No wonder why the public schools are in trouble. They say "Think out of the box", then they punish you for it. I am appalled at the stupidity of the administration at that high school. What the student did was creative, bold, and will be looked back on fondly as a creative way to ask a girl to the prom. Unfortunately, our public school system wants to mold young minds into drones, who can't and don't think out of the box, creatively, or for that matter think. It is really quite sad. I am glad I don't have any kids, and if I did, I don't think I would send them to a public high school.

The world would be a better place without politicians. Let's get rid of them all.
Maybe..., but I doubt it. I guess we will find out.

I would rather vote for a trained chimp than Newt, BHO, McCain, Trump or most of the self serving idiots out there. What about Herman Cain- seems like a breath of fresh air so far?
