Kate makes a good point. Not stupid at all. Too often people want to blame an inanimate object for their destructive behavior. When people want to kill people, they find a way, whether there are guns available or not. The presence of a gun does not "make" someone use it to kill. There are millions of people who own guns and feel absolutely no inclination to shoot anybody. Furthermore, many, many people have used guns to prevent crime, often without firing a shot -- the mere presence of the gun there saved lives. So, you're criticizing your betters, James, when you mock Kate's point. Try thinking things through.

I’ll leave it to others better suited to comment on the horror of Friday afternoon in Newtown, Conn. I am not yet a parent and would not presume to understand the emotions involved in something like this.

But on the media reaction and exploitation that followed the horrific news, I will comment.

Simply put, it was disgusting.

I’ve said before how progressives will exploit anyone and anything to advance their agenda, but I’d always thought there was a line, somewhere, of decency they wouldn’t cross. I was wrong.
