The Media's Religion Deficit

Correction: While many Catholic leaders, including Pope Benedict XVI, disfavor capital punishment, the Church itself recognizes that the state may carry it out if necessary to defend her citizenry. Also, the adjective "devout" is inaccurate as applied to Harry Reid, Mario Cuomo and anyone else of their ilk unless it is applied to the noun "leftist."

Gay Marriage and the Definition of Words

Mad Max Wrote: May 13, 2012 10:28 AM
The difficulty with your argument is that advocates of gay marriage take the position that the word is the thing. They aren't content with just shacking up and using powers of attorney and wills to deal with property distribution. They want "marriage." The unspoken reality is that once they get "marriage," they won't avail themselves of it much. They'll just shack up as in the past because its so much easier, but the law, by recognizing marriage as *any* state-licensed pairing, will have equated homosexual sex with heterosexual sex, and that's enough for the gay rights crowd, whose real goal is the normalization of perversion.

Mormon Doctrine Leads to Socialism?

Mad Max Wrote: May 09, 2012 8:10 AM
Mormons have a *strange* understanding of history.
Slavery did not remain entrenched for centuries. It was gone in Christian Europe by the Middle Ages. It resurfaced as the particularly brutal form of chattel slavery most of us think of today, after the discovery of the New World. Yes, Christians practiced it, but Christians also condemned it. The Popes condemned it repeatedly, and English Christians finally harnessed the force of the state to shut down the slave trade. As for homosexuality, no one calls for stoning, but we still call it sin, which it is. But the Savages of the world equate condemning the sin with punishing the sinner. To normalize homosexuality thru recognition of "gay marriage" is to re-define it as a non-sin.
A silver lining in Savage's tirade is that it actually acknowledges that the Bible prohibits homosexual activity, which at least is better than those activists who argue that the Bible doesn't really do so.
Is there a recognized term of "choice" in "medicine, or obstetrics and gynecology?"
Because homosexuality denies that sex has a primarily procreative purpose. The more PP can promote sex as recreation, the more entrenched becomes the relativist mindset toward sex. Relativism is essential for one to deceive oneself that abortion is something good.

Hope For the Dead

"The truth He manifested is that His acceptance of the destruction of His body would demonstrate to us that we can liberate our souls from the slavery of sin and our free wills from the oppression of the government." It's quite a stretch to characterize Christ's death and resurrection as a political statement. "Render unto Ceasar what is his," "My kingdom is not of this earth," etc.

Pope Blesses Castroism

I see nothing in this article which supports its outrageous headline. Apparently to the Pope's critics, anything short of the Pope pulling a Tommy gun out from under his robe and mowing down Fidel, Raul and their security detail amounts to "blessing" Castroism.

Who can't afford it? Then why is it being mandated as a benefit of *employment*?
