This would be similar to Atwater kent. A major radio manufacturer in the thirties. The employees demanded raises during the depression. He decided that the one time he would chance it and gave in--risking his own personal finances. The next year the employees tried it again, and he decided that the risk of losing everything was too high so he closed the factory and went out of business.
