While everyone seems to be watching the fiscal cliff/debt ceiling theater it's my belief Obama is playing a different game. He's using his rock star status, bully pulpit, and a compliant, adoring media in a scorched earth campaign with the goal of discrediting and destroying a hapless GOP that is leaderless and in disarray. For Democrats a trip over the fiscal falls in a win-win. They get a revenue gusher to re-distribute to their favorite crony clients AND they get to blame the Republicans for the bad. Never mind the devastation reeked on a strapped middle class. There's no price too high for Obama to achieve his aim of a socialist utopia.

Agreed. I'm convinced that Obama's goal is to humiliate the Republicans while eliminating the so-called Bush tax cuts ... meaning the tax hikes he wants, and sequestration ... meaning the cut to the military budget that he wants. The Republicans will take the fall and he will then come back as Robin Hood with a proposal for middle-class tax cuts. Our hero. He wants us to go over the cliff.

Exactly! I've been saying that same thing about O-Bominable-Care. That debacle is so bad that it makes sense it was done on purpose. They want it to fail so they can swoop in and "rescue" us with an even worse single-payer version. Democrats are sneaky and conniving. I just wish the GOP would get it together and present a united front on these issues. They're going to be blamed regardless of what happens, so they may as well take a stand and not compromise the principles on which we elected them.

News Flash! There will be no revenue gusher. History teaches us that when you increase tax rates the revenue goes down. Why would it be any different now than in the past. The economy will tank. Joblessness will increase. Dependence on gubmint will increase. Violence and lawlessness will increase. GDP will decline. Recession will result.
Hang onto your butts. We're in for a rough ride. But I guess we had it comin'.

But our commander-in-thief with his new power to by pass congress will just hike the debt limit and borrow, borrow his way into nanny state heaven. He couldn't pass economics or business management 001 because his socialist brain would explode.

What a difference a few month makes.

Last month we were told by a fawning news media how great things were. The economy was a little engine that could.  And the declining unemployment rate was touted in headlines as significant progress toward economic recovery.

Unemployment rate falls to 7.8% in September, reported the Washington Post- a four-year low...”nearly”… whatever “nearly” means.

“The nation’s jobless rate dropped to its lowest point in nearly four years in September. And unlike some recent declines, this one happened for the right reason: not because people gave up looking for a job, but...
