No, other than one's tax refund they can't confiscate assets. And the law certainly does not permit putting anyone behind bars. Section 5000A of the Internal Revenue Code expressly states you cannot be criminally prosecuted for failing to pay the penalty.

Obamashock! Work More, Get Less!

Let's not forget the tax increases set to take effect January 1, 2014. First, there's the new Medicare 3.8% tax on capital gains which should do wonders for our staggering, stagnating economy. Then people paying more for their health insurance will be thrilled to know they'll have less to pay premiums with as the new Medicare tax increase takes effect. Neither of these cash grabs labeled 'Medicare' actually goes to fund Medicare as seniors will soon find. The 'final solution' to the baby boomer problem is to be thrown under the bus not only by the AARP but by the Democrats to support Medicaid under ObamaCare.
The low information voter has yet to learn of the most significant impacts of the ACA (aka ObamaCare.) The more I read and learn the more I believe it contains the Progressives 'final solution' to the baby-boomer problem. But wait! There’s more! Throwing Granny off a cliff is just one feature of ObamaCare. The current generation of Millennials is about to face even greater hazards. Those forced onto Medicaid either because they have no job or have lost their mini-med insurance will have a 50% greater risk of dying if they do have to have surgery. Now that’s eXtreme! This is not to mention the tax hikes hidden away in the law set to spring forth in January. My only hope is the American people will finally be awakened to the cruel fact that they’ve brought this on themselves though their choices at the polls.
What was “hatched in the bowels of a conservative think tank called the Heritage Foundation” and what was implemented in Massachusetts after being ravageded by a pack of liberal Democrat politicians isn’t even similar. The original idea was simply to reform the state’s insurance market structure and uncompensated-care payment system. It would have given the consumer many choices as to the level of coverage, not the one-size fits all approach of ObamaCare. You are truly ignorant if you believe you can paint conservatism with the tragedy that both RomneyCare and ObamaCare have become.
If Representative Mitchell knew anything at all about history he would understand that gun laws in formerly slave holding states were specifically enacted to prevent people of color from acquiring the means to defend themselves and their loved ones. Piled higher and deeper clearly applies here.
But.....but...didn't Obama save Detriot? And didn't he and his minions ignore bankruptcy code to pay off their union supporters? Now that Bernanke decided to cut and run will Yellen be tempted to make her mark by 'saving' the cities?

So how did we get here? How and why have we fallen so far so fast? Two things come to mind. First Democrat politicians extort money from businesses. Al Gore was infamous for calling up CEOs and telling them how much it'd cost to be left alone. Result: business now plays cozy with Democrats snuggling up for a piece of the pie. Second would be civil service employee unions. This is the enforcement arm for the first part. Politicized civil servants will never be servants but will turn into harsh masters unless one toes the line (think Gibson Guitar.) If ObamaCare give Republicans the chance to regain power it is critical they break up this tryst before it can again take hold.
