All Catholics should see it as criminal that the pedophile priests weren't prosecuted by the Church and then in civil courts. That's a given.
The Church does have a tenet of "Papal infallibility". It doesn't however mean that the Pope personally is infallible or doesn't sin OR that he talks to God. It means that he studies the Bible and other sources to determine Church policy on issues. Thoughtful study before a policy is issued.
