While David makes some good points, and I realize your point is meant to be humorous, Obama comes closer to "African-American" than most. His father was from Kenya, and his mother was from some long term America stock.

My father emigrated from Greece in 1947 and married my mom who was a "Heinz 57" American. Technically, I could call myself a "Greek-American", but I don't. I have a very obviously Greek last name, so people always ask me if I'm Greek. I always say, "No, but my Dad is".

If I was in politics and running in a heavily Greek immigrant community I'd probably ham it up, but I only know about four Greek words (three of them cuss-words), and I hate feta cheese.
