I graduated from Univ of Michigan in 1975 with an MSME. When I saw what was happening in the 80's and 90's regarding political correct speech at the U of M, I wrote a letter to the people soliciting donations for the university and told them I would never give another dime to the university as long as they continued quelling freedom of speech. They've now lost any contributions from me for about 20 years.

When I graduated with a Masters from Michigan I was told by a consultant group (who was helping teach a class) that they would love to hire me and another student, but couldn't because they would lose contracts with UofM due to its quota requirement for contractors regarding women and minorities. I believe the University should assist its graduates in finding employment, not discriminate against them on the basis of race and gender. The institution is run by immoral people. No American of moral conscious should support them.

I get a request for donation phone call every year from my alma mater. One year, I unloaded on the poor guy as to why I was not donating [political correctness]. I cited a real case involving the school, and as I was describing it, he kept saying, "This is very interesting . . . this is very interesting." When I was done, he asked if I wanted to be taken off the list for the future, and I said no, that I wanted to enlighten other students as well [I also wanted to have more fun].

Good for you, lvldcook. My situation as well.
And a damn shame it came to that.

Many of my friends and readers are disheartened by recent cultural and political trends. Many blame our universities and wonder whether we can ever restore sanity in our nation, given that the enemy seems to control the modern university. They see no chance to win in the war of ideas as long as they are forced to support the public university and, therefore, forced to fund a war against their own cherished values.

But I know something they don't know. The public university that has declined so steadily in recent years will cease to exist in just a few short...
