Don't forget, Obama told Prof. John Lott when they were both at the Univ. of Chicago, that he didn't believe any citizens should own any guns. That explains his mindset and why he's so angry about this. He truly believed that Newtown was the entrance gate to the path HE would put America on towards the ultimate in gun control. His pot of gold at the end of his rainbow is the elimination of guns from the hands of American citizens. He's already stated that as I mentioned above.

Much of the drama has already dissipated; most of these amendments will fail.  The Toomey/Manchin bipartisan compromise appears to be dead in the water, with Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) pounding home the final legislative nails earlier today.
