Is the Personhood Movement Really Pro-Life?

SabbieGirl, it is generally held that the death of the body occurs at the moment that the soul leaves the body. There are reports that physical experiments have been conducted as many as a dozen times around the world in which a dying man is sealed in a hermetically sealed container that is placed upon a sensitive scale. At the moment of death the weight of the container diminishes slightly, showing that at the moment of death something with a slight weight passed through the solid walls of the container and left the container, evidence for the existence of the human soul. I submit that one could scientifically settle the question of whether life begins at conception by conducting this experiment on a dying fetuses. Louie

Sir your assertion is prima facie ridiculous as a matter of science and has no theological basis either. At least, it has no basis in Christian theology.

Just an FYI, in fact there has been anecdotal evidence of observed 'energy' that leaves body when death takes place. Many in the hospice field as well as those who are caring for their elder and/or dying family members have observed this phenomena as well. Some sources: http://www.unsolvedrealm.com/2011/04/03/can-we-actually-weigh-the-human-soul/ To my knowledge there is no real 'physical evidence' of the Soul. There are other areas of understanding that posit the idea that the Soul exists always and is an extension of God, so it enters the body at a certain time either while in the womb or shortly after birth. Regression hypnotherapy has been a source of some information in this direction, and there is some that think SIDS is a result

that occurs when the 'Soul' decides itself that staying in the body does not serve its 'Highest Good' and so waits for another opportunity where it reconnects with other souls for a future journey.

In the immortal words of the Big lebowski: yah, well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

Yan...just responded to one of your posts above and there is a great deal of knowledge that most of the public is unaware of....so open your mind and take a look. Truthfully, it will blow your mind. My journey started with a 'near-death experience' many years ago when I was 20 during a car wreck and had an experience with the 'other side'. You'll find a lot of info in Occult philosophy, Edgar Cayce, Theosophy and so on

"generally held?"

Can you please source your "the soul has mass/weight" theory?

They put dying men in hermetically sealed containers? So we're they trying to measure something or just speed up their deaths? Sounds like who ever set up these tests are looking at murder charges!

"there are reports" has zero vie in an argument.

At least do your homework.

One of the most controversial wings of the pro-life movement is the “personhood” effort. Championed by Personhood USA out of Colorado, its goal is to have personhood defined in law to include the unborn. Theoretically, it sounds good. Practically, it will never work and meanwhile is severely hurting the pro-life movement.

The pro-life movement does not support the personhood effort. Phyllis Schlafly's Eagle Forum issued this statement about it, “Nearly every reputable pro-life leader has criticized the approach of the personhood amendment, which will simply give more power to pro-abortion judges.” Another statement from...
