PS... Guys... ease up on Dr. Sowell.... He has his view on this and has stated it. If you disagree, state your view...respectfully. This man has contributed mightily in so many ways and none of us is going to agree on everything, but to act like he has ulterior motives isn't right. What good is any of this if we devolve down to Liberals standard of debate ? I disagree with him also on this...but am with him on so many other things he has addressed. Still a great mind...Still a great American. Let's not lose sight of that.

.Cruz is rocking the boat that is making the rats who operate down in the hulls come up to the surface. It exposes the traitors and weak ones...and there are too many. Otherwise, the GOP simply becomes Democrats-lite... I don't see it as foolishness...and he gets it...He has acted and expresses the sickening disgust too many of us have towards establishment GOPer's... don't kid yourself they would 'work' with him. Remember McCain's response to him ? If you don't remember, look it up. It's worth your effort

Wofatt...ahh, your Japanese scenario?....it is a far-fetched idea. The American home front didn't like the Wars but didn't tire in their support. Very widespread support. Want something we can all agree upon??... your contortionist attempts at relevance. Think you make any difference on here?... really?

Mr. Sowell, I would like to add another historical analogy. The Congress and the Media were formidable obstacles for Reagan. What did he do? Started 'talking' and addressing the people. He grew his popularity and the pressure on both of those groups. It often helped turn the table to his advantage. Today, we have a tool that is relatively cheap, massive and where one controls their message. The INTERNET. What if the GOP did its own end around the State Media and the Senate by having its own outlet on the Internet? They could address an issue comprehensively, fully express the 'what' and 'why' of their position, and utilize data, facts and figures, models of success/failure etc... In short, give full expression for who and what they are fighting for. Imagine that. The GOP trail-blazing communications on the Internet. That would be bold, more transparent, DIRECT, and they could enjoy full control of the message and brand. It would take talent and much less hypocrisy. Two things not currently part of this leadership. I wonder what might occur if someone of real influence started pushing this idea.

Mr. Sowell...point well taken. I follow this pretty well, politically speaking. There has been one scandal after another and no leadership strong enough, talented enough nor determined enough( actually all 3) to capitalize on gold-plated opportunities for the GOP to see the party in a whole different light. Problem? They possess none of the above, make deal after deal that exposes their hypocrisy, cannot organize and focus to stay on message, do not pound on crucial points (like Constitutional issues), and generally have infuriated supporters with their about faces when making 'deals' with their bud's, the Democrats. Rubio's immigrations position and Ryan's budget positions come to mind but there's more. They could not capitalize on the fact the first Sequester was what Obama had stated numerous times he would force even before the real battle began.... and somehow, someway, magically it was all the GOP's fault. He turned evidence on himself into fault on the GOP. Then the grotesque pork in this Farm bill....it makes me sick to my stomach. At Dunkirk, they had men worthy of the risk to save them. We have precious few in our situation. I feel as many I speak with....when it's all said and done, it's their elite jobs they care the most about...just like their bud's the Dem's. We have had ENOUGH

Cruz Control?

BTW... I personally want to thank John Roberts for his massive betrayal. History will not be nearly harsh enough on you for what you've unleashed on to this Nation. That decision by that man should of been the turning point for the GOP. Should have.

Mr. Sowell, I do love your mind but disagree. The establishment GOP has betrayed us and the Country when we needed them MOST. They will continue with dog and pony shows unless Cruz, Rand etc... force things. ENOUGH. If this party has to blow up, so be it. Enough with McCain, Boehner, Grahams, etc... I see only the Tea Party as unwilling to compromise basic tenets. No more deals. It's costing us now...it will cost even more in the future... unless we get a better class of men to fight things out.

@ fuster... you obviously can seperate your hatred for Ms. Glick from the reality unfolding in Egypt. That makes you a typical petty, juvenile liberal unable to see the immense consequences for the utter failure of your Idol, Obama. You've no real idea the incredible damage he has done... and the incredible damage he keeps doing as Nation after Nation realizes what an utter fool and amatuer he is. What they smell is fear borne of incompetence, petty self preservation, and self agrandizement in place of backbone, vision and long term global strategy. A Fool cannot suffer surrounding himself with those more capable so we will get more Clinton's and Kerry's and Biden's traipsing around the globe doing ever more damage. That is the raw, sobering truth that this article points to. Too much for you to handle I'm sure since it involves something bigger than your petty self.
