The article is idiotic for many reasons, but to choose just one it would be impossible to give "amnesty" without giving citizenship. Those amnestied would have U.S. citizen children, creating an underclass of mixed-status families and one that the Dems would exploit to gain power.

And, the entire concept that Harsanyi presents is as ludicrous as saying you like the rain but you just don't like the water that comes with it. Any immigration is going to give more power to the Dems and the far-left, and they're going to use that increased power to push for more spending. Maybe we can have massive immigration w/o either massive spending or land reform in some libertarian alternative universe, but not in this one.
