Karcher is a professional officer, respected by his troops, and follows the orders of his superiors. You may not be aware, but on the day of the signover of the combat positions in Sadr City, Lt. Col. Karcher's convoy was hit by a IED attack resulting in the death of his driver and Karcher losing both his legs. During the return of the convoy after evacuating casualties, they were hit again resulting in another fatality.
