In response to:

Incoherent Immigration Reform

A REAL problem for conservatives is that the Left snookered us with the changes in the immigration laws which took place in 1965. As late as 1980, Hispanics were just 2% of the population and they WERE conservative, with traditional values. But immigration, with a new emphasis on family unification versus traits which would benefit America (education, skill set), has soared the number of Hispanics to 16%--> an 8-fold increase. The new Hispanic millions are usually poor and often ignorant and recently frequently is THEY who have so altered America so suddenly. Conservatives CANNOT appeal to these naturally guvment-dependent types. Surveys show that 70% of ILLEGALS came here for the Big Guvment giveaways, NOT for jobs.

I wager the number is higher than 70%.
Anyone who violates the laws of a foreign country by entering it, then continues violating it's laws, has no respect for law and was a common criminal before entering.
This picture of good honest hardworking immigrants must be exposed for the farce it is.
And those who support reform are in reality supporting Amnesty. Both have little if any respect for american law or her citizens.

This is just willful intransigence. You are hiding your hatred of undocumented hispanics behind a facade. They disrespect our laws no more than do whole armies of U.S. citizens who exceed higway speed limits on their daily commute.

They break this law because the law is at odds with reality and the needs of our economy.

Because this real economic need is met by an illegal system, it is easy to abuse that system to do things like displace citizens from jobs.

Ah, the predictable "border jumping is no worse than jaywalking" ilk rationale!

ACTUALLY, most ILLEGAL aliens work here, which generally means they commit a number of felonies---> I.D. fraud, employment fraud, often tax fraud, often I.D. theft, often S.S. fraud, often welfare and subsidized rent fraud

The economic system is they do 10 dollar an hour jobs for 5 bucks and so on. They take jobs away and I've seen it up close and personal.

Nothing about illegal immigration quite adds up.

Conservative corporate employers still support the idea of imported, cheap, non-union labor -- in a strange alliance with liberal activists who want the larger blocs of Latino voters that eventually follow massive influxes from Latin America.

Yet how conservative are businesses that in the past flouted federal law -- and how liberal are activists who undermined the bargaining power of American minimum-wage, entry-level workers, many of them minorities?

The remedies for illegal immigration under discussion are just as incoherent. If the government now plans to offer some foreign nationals a pathway to citizenship, does...
