Oh hell, there are some libertarians posting on TH (Old Mexican, e.g.) who believe that the guvment has NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to restrict the free flow of labor and a business owner's right to hire them, regardless of where they come from. When you point out that ILLEGAL aliens milk social services and trash areas they pervade, they reply that is not their concern. Strange bedfellows some libertarians and Obama!
You are funny Milt! I had $3 BILLION in C & I loans under my personal approval auspices, most of an entire state...hardly bank teller stuff. Loadstar is an alternate spelling-- look it up. Somebody had used lodestar already. I was oracle1 before that. Actually, I might have figured you for an engineer...like Jimmy Carter, you get lost in the trees, losing sight of the forest. My daughter graduated Summa from Ga Tech, albeit premed, the most competitive public technical school. (Cal Tech and MIT are private). . "Uncle Miltie" was irresistible for those who remember Milton Berle...I barely can, actually. My, you ARE sensitive! THAT goes with narcissism ironically, which you threw at me in error. I AM cocky as hell! But I can back it...
Thanks, Uncle Miltie...in your puerile petulance, you have removed ANY DOUBT that I should care what you think at all! You are CLEARLY merely mortal indeed! :) There is a truly weird mentality sometimes in evidence here which purports to judge what others have a right to say/post...those on the Left, e.g., are uncommon fond of such posturing when they cannot beat your arguments, sources and facts. You do remind me somewhat of "dreadnaught/13," who also dogs me here, but he LOVES ILLEGAL aliens...he NEVER has facts or sources on his side, but he brays incessantly anyway. You and deadnutz both make sweeping, ungrounded assumptions-- I grade strictly on the curve, but they line up to get into my classes...and the Chair's daughter was...
OMG, then WHERE does that put YOU, bottom dweller know-it-all?! I would bet that you got beaten up a lot as a kid. This is a VERY serious issue that might be decided within weeks and will have PERMANENT implications for America! As for "hijacking," NOBODY to date has complained that I sometimes quote their cogent, literate posts...I get told instead, "Thanks for improving it!" As to "has been professor," I am hands down the most popular instructor among a large business faculty at a state university community college, where I was recruited after a highly successful banking career; the Chair urged his daughter to take my class as her one business elective.
A fence costs $, but in the whole scope of things, it is chump change. It says to Mexico's poor and ignorant-- you need to apply to come here LEGALLY. We would spend FAR MORE on the next wave of them who crash the border on social welfare. Heritage calculates that EACH family of 4 will use up $1.4 MILLION more over a lifetime in services drained than it EVER pays in ANY form of taxes. Most would NEVER pay federal income tax. Indeed, many get excess child credits BACK. The socio-economic costs of culturally disparate, ignorant, poor immigrants are STAGGERING-- crimes, gangs, barrio blight, social service decimation, dropouts, illegitimacy's. We benefit ONLY from EDUCATED emigrants who support themselves net! Indeed, they...
author of above-- Dr. Pia M. Orrenius Senior Economist and Research Officer Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Pia Orrenius joined the Dallas Fed in 1999. As a labor economist and member of the regional group, she analyzes the regional economy, with special focus on the border region. Orrenius’s research also focuses on the causes and consequences of Mexico–U.S. migration, illegal immigration, and U.S. immigration policy. Orrenius spent the 2004–2005 academic year as senior economist on the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President, Washington D.C., where she advised the Bush administration on labor, health and immigration issues.
Are all immigrants equally likely to succeed here and contribute? ************** Federal Reserve Bank's socio-economist's study of immigrants...some immigrants are FAR WORSE for America than others... https://www.dallasfed.org/research/indepth/2004/id0401a.html (released in 2006) excerpt-- Immigrant Assimilation: Why Worry? Conclusion: Worrying about immigrant assimilation boils down to worrying about Mexican/Hispanic immigration. NON-Hispanic immigrants consistently OUTPERFORM the native-born, initially and even after three generations here. Meanwhile, Mexican immigrants make up the largest and least educated immigrant group...they STILL lag behind in education and wage outcomes after 3 generations here.
But you are invoking logic...that won't work in a Congress controlled by special interest groups, who profit from ILLEGAL aliens being here-- liberals seeing guvment-dependents and voters, ethnocentric Hispanic groups like La Raza, miscreant employers who ONLY employ them because they can pay them less under the table, some church groups seeking to fill pews (like the scandal-plagued and member-depleted Catholic Church).
Oh tangential Uncle Miltie! Can you NEVER stay on topic, but instead attack the messenger with whom you claim to substantially agree?! I have not taught English, though I am indeed state certified to do so. I have taught Business and Business Law to college students for 6 years. Your school marmish, pedantic "corrections" are silly in a blogging context. Teddy (the most harmful leftist until Obama) was a drunken driver whose actions resulted in the death of Mary Jo...give it a rest, Sally! Some people get so much in the weeds that they cannot see the dog mess they crawl in.
No-Way-Jose wrote: I say "Kill the Bill." A border fence, even if real, is not enough to save this piece of garbage. In fact, the fence will be largely irrelevant because the rest of the bill provides so many legal avenues for entry around the fence (either directly or through loopholes, exemptions, and DHS discretion).
