Boehner & his allies could start cutting government spending by eliminating the useless & wasteful Departments of Education & Energy. To do that would slash the n7umber of paper shuffling parasites battening off gov't payrolls. But cynic that I am, I expect 6he budget cutters to go after easier targets, the poor, the very young, the elderly & veterans.
I like Mike's attitude
It's amusing how the growing prospect of a huge conservative vicory on 2 November fraks out Lefties. To the poin5t, I once a Kennedy Democrat & yet a fan of the memory of John Kennedy have already voted (via mail) this time & for perhaps the first trime in my life, I votesd a straight Republican ticket. Yelp all they want, Lefties are going to have to live with a Republican landslide in a few days henceforth.
Contrary to Lefist claims, the army that fought in V iet-Nam wasn't composed of draftees. Yes, there were draftees in the service then, but mostly they were sent to 7th Army in Europe, an army of roughly the same size as the one in Viet-Nam at its peak:, a half million men. And many draftees were retained in the US, sent to Korea and other overseas postings, except into combat in Viet-Nam. For example, Elvis Prestley was drafted, trained as a 6x6 truck driver & posted to Germany, where he served honorably. I served 22 months in Viet-Nam, Lieutenant, 1st Infantry Division, 9/15/66-9/14/67 & as a captain in the 101st Airborne, 3 March 1969 until 22 January 1970, when WIA & evacuated on a stretcher. Not once did I knowingly...

Two places to begin cutting the federal budget is to elimanate the useless & wasteful Departmrnts of Education & Engery. The Dept. of Education was a liberal payoff to the teachers unions. It hasn't helped improve education in the USA. In addeition, education is not a federal responsibility, it's a state & local one according to the Constitiution. The Dept. of Energy hasn't saved a single erg of energy since it was established, It's a huge, wastreful, big government boondoggle. .

Posted to 7th Army in Germany in 1968. In a general hospital in Japan in 1970 subsequent to being WIA in Viet-Nam I find myself iin agreement with Pat in believing there's no rational justification for our maintaining troops in Korea, Okinawa or Europe. Perhaps excepting Europe, where facilities may serve as staging & support areas for commitments in the Middle East.
Christine as quoted by Jonah, "...Litmus test by which I cast my vote for every piece of legislation...whether or not it is constitutional" is looking more sensible & level-headed by far than she's given credit by the MSM.

Reading the Tea Leaves

According to Peggy Noonan's column today Representative Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee estimates that 60% of those attending Tea Party rallies are women. If accurate, 60% is considerably more than "a slight majority." If the 60% figure is even even close to accurate, that suggests the gals, generally part of the Dem base, are even more hopping mad.at the Dems than us guys That alone bodes ill for the Dems.

NRSC Now Supporting O'Donnell

Win or lose, O'donnell's a better candidate than the pro-abortion, anti-Second Amendment "moderate" (Moderate only to a loony Leftist), Mike Castle. It just may be that some in the Republican establishment are beginning to understand the grassroots as represented in the Tea Party aren't wedded to the notion of supporting incumbent professional politicians. Some of us haven't forgotten the classic definition of a politican, "A politician is a person who has chosen as a profession the manipulation of people."
