Not all elected representative are bad. Term limits tosses out the good and bad. Too many people do not understand the power of the vote and their responsibility to pay minimal attention to who runs their government at all levels. If they earn a vote by doing their job, let them keep their job. Define your values and vote for the person closest. An hour of your time to vote every 2 years is a small price for freedom. Don't vote? Don't bieatch. You got what you paid for.IMHO
I choose to remain an Independent as long as being a Christian and passing judgment on the morality of others are required credentials for joining the Republican Party or running on the Republican ticket. If you choose to kill unwanted babies in the womb, fine, don't expect me to pay for it. When you have children, expect the fathers to contribute to their up bringing and expect the government to enforce those payments monthly without eligibility requirements. If an adult chooses to purchase sex from an adult willing to provide sex, fine, regulate where those transactions can occur and the minimum conditions required (not in public please) Stop with the laws already. Expect ethics and character from elected officials, not religion.
Republicans took the House for the first time in 40 years in 94, remember? Worked with Clinton, got some stuff done which Clinton takes credit for. Dems have had control of the Senate for most, if not all, of the last 80 years along with the House. Republicans can't grow balls until the voting public does. The current Tea Party members in the House and Senate are a classic study of what happens to those who do stand for the core principals of small government, minimum regulation and market based capitalism. It gets labeled as too "extreme" by the left and moderate right. O' Reilly is a good example of what I mean with his dismissive attitude towards the Tea Party.
Nixon was responding to the socialist French government under DeGaule who was taking US dollars and demanding that the US redeem them for gold. The French were trying to break Ft. Knox. The Constitutional Authority came from Congress.
A common response from libs is that it takes too long to drill to make any difference right now. Bush however did open the process in the gulf (2000), which Obama is proud to take credit for when anyone asks about the restrictions following the BP mess. "We're producing more of our own oil now than we have at any time in the past 40 years." His correct response should be "Blame it on Bush."
Exactly, and that was only the tip of the iceberg. Anyone with the right connections could bail.
Progressives live in a Cave of Illusions dotted with Ivory Towers, populated with those elitists who have moved past truth and facts in an endless quest to protect the unwashed masses from themselves by attempting to create a perfect, risk free world. Silly progressives.
Exactly.
Since the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress and for two years the GOP was labeled the Party of No for trying to stop what was going on while they were being criticized by moderate RINO's for failing to compromise, how do you figure the GOP gave the AG position to Holder? Just asking.
You can blame a lot of that on the MSM working with liberal progressives who for 20 or so years branded the John Birch Society as evil and anyone who believed in small government, lower taxes, less regulation as a "Bircher" (60's through 80's). That's also why the Tea Party is labeled as too extreme and conservatives everywhere hid in closets until the Tea Party came along and they realized they weren't really alone after all or strange because of their beliefs. Power of the media bashing created the great silent majority. IMHO
