Racial Stupidity and Malevolence

This can only further separate rather than unify our country. There should be no discrimination as to how a student is graded or educated. Letting a student fail will teach him to put forth effort and rely on himself - not look for special favors. Letting a person think they have done well when they have not is a lie. Let's get back to truthfully dealing with everyone. Character is not built by pandering and falsehood. I believe any black student can and will do just as well as a white student if they are given all the facts and dealt with truthfully.

What Handouts To Cut

Again, the article makes good sense. If heirs are dependent upon property at the death of the parent, there is a major problem in their own means of making a contribution to society and living on their own. Being able to live comfortably in old age is the hope of most citizens after a career and hard work. Beyond life's needs, it may not be beneficial to the next generation that there is no need to strive or succeed at anything to make their own lives better on their own. There is not much satisfaction in a reward that is not earned.

Is Profiling Racist?

Linda1642 Wrote: Aug 10, 2010 4:53 PM
Everyone discriminates things - food, clothes, religions, character traits, etc. That is human nature tied up in keeping us safe, comfortable and able to reach out of our comfort zone to include more experiences and to learn from them. To not do so would be stupid and sometimes dangerous. Again,. we need to keep things is proper perspective. Walter Williams makes perfect sense.

Racism or Stupidity

We need to focus on similarities in Americans - not foolish differences of color which is insignificant to the true character of individuals. Excuses can be found in small things and made large. I am more concerned with what the ear hears - language usage - profanity, put-downs, egotism - that reveal character than what the eye may see. What is important to most is family and respect for each other. When that disappears, we become uncivilized. Government is powerless to control such things. We need to get back to basics - become responsible for ourselves, families, communities. Hard work, but it must happen to change our course.

Can Black Americans Afford Obama?

Linda1642 Wrote: Jun 11, 2010 1:06 PM
I know Obama looks black, but remember he is also the same amount of white. Why do people attribute his failures to his color? Attribute it to his person - he is who he is. Regardless of his physical characteristics, and more important, is his upbringing outside of this country. Who does he identify himself with? Do not judge a book by it's cover - remember that advice? I hope we are able to make decisions based upon a person's actions, words and beliefs and not on a physical appearance, which can be deceiving. Obama does not represent the black community to me. He simply represents HIS background and beliefs, which I do not believe is the same thing.

EPA Cover-Up

I am in Minnesota - near Twin Cities - and we are having one of the coolest summers in about 20 some years. Today the high hasn't reached 70- tomorrow we might get to 65. Crops were late and we need much more heat for them to do well. In the northern part of the state - Brainerd area where tourist flock - they are worse than we are. Tourism is down and the weather is the kicker for people enjoying lakes. Global warming is a myth - weather cycles continually and is not predictable. Our weather forecasters are a good example. We are foolish to pursue such a politically embellished plan to "prevent" further warming. I need a jacket. Lynn Betts
