Big Lies in Politics

Excellent post, Mr. Sowell! The American people need to be first dishonest with themselves before electing dishonest politicians. It is rare to find qualified statesmen to fill important public offices. It is still much rarer for them to get elected. Newt Gingrich is a qualified statesman who was tarred, feathered, and pilloried because he is a threat to the dishonest Washington establishment system. Don't be deceived. Your vote will count if you vote for him in the primary. If the millions of Americans who haven't voted yet, vote for Newt we will have a brighter future than the one that is currently being promised.
It's time for decent Americans to define the "new normal" and reject the standards of the cultural elites and their amoral society. The new normal should be, "Turn off the T.V. and find something better to do with your time and life."
The Republican candidate with the most establishment backing was not Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, or Newt Gingrich. It has been Mitt Romney. He is the establishment choice for President.
Scientists would go to these research stations to work for brief periods of time. No one would be building a ' colony ' and setting up residence on the Moon. That's silly, and a grotesque & deliberate misrepresentation of a serious policy proposal which has been under consideration for over 50 years. Sincerely, John Lepant Brighton CO
Some scientists have proposed replacing the ISS, which is a science station in low Earth orbit, with a new science station in a higher orbit. This would allow new types of inquiry and research not possible in the lower orbits. Newt Gingrich, and some scientists at NASA, have proposed that this station could be placed on the MOON as the Moon is already in high Earth orbit. This would facilitate all of the new research proposed for the orbiting station as also allow for lunar research.
The moon base idea was like JFK's dream of getting a man on the moon in 10 years. It was supported by NASA scientists as a serious alternative to the space station which was going to be phased out. There was never a proposal for any ' moon colony ', rather, the idea is this: The ISS ( International Space Station ) program will end in 2020. When that program ends, the U.S. Manned Space Program will end with it.
Ann Coulter, you call Gingrich and Perry part of "the establishment" instead of Romney who has Wall Street, the Establishment politicians, and the support of the Washington lobbyists solidly behind him. How bizarre. You lost your objectivity when you chose to make a charicature of Newt Gingrich such as your comment about his "moon base." YOU are now part of the "establsihment" and part of the problem.
Where are the political leaders and American patriots with backbones of steel, hearts of gold, and steel-trap minds that will oppose President Obama's excesses with manly firmness? It is time for our leaders to forget about personal political ambitions and put the best interests of the country as the priority. I do not think serious impeachment proceedings against this radical president can afford to be delayed even if they are likely to fail. I say give the Democratic Senators a chance to act as American patriots. If they fail, replace them and recommence impeachment proceedings after the election.

Thomas Sowell says it so well! Obama doublespeak and media coverup work well in taking a dumbed down America further down the primrose path until its end ... over the cliff. The media, establishment and pro-Romney allies have already convinced many Americans that the Republican nomination is already over and Romney won. If Americans ceded their vote to these deceivers it is their own fault. Newt Gingrich calls out the media elite for what they are and the establishment for what it is. He has real solutions for real problems and a proven track record of solving them. Get on board to a better destination. Join the Newt train! Go to Newt dot org to find out more.
I like Rick Santorum personally as a social conservative but he has a mixed record on economic issues, supporting unions over right-to-work legislation, and supporting many unnecessary earmarks. I don’t think he has fought hard enough for a balanced budget, raising the debt ceiling several times and voting for congressional pay raises at least three times. In his last Congress (2005-2006), he had one of the biggest spending agendas of any Republican. Although he is strongly supported by Evangelicals, he will be portrayed as an extreme social conservative outside of the mainstream and will have difficulty winning the general election because of his mixed economic record.
