Wow, homeschooling has changed so much! Talk about innovation and being able to "adapt or die" -- I never even heard of Khan Academy. Our phonics program was "Professor Phonics." Cost about five dollars maybe? It was written by a nun, and I taught all my children to read with it, including one with a some language learning disabilities. That child, by the way, just graduated a semester early, with honors, from college.

Who knew? My parents are cool. Homeschooling is becoming hipster. Celebrity parents like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie proudly discuss their homeschooling lifestyle. But pioneers like my parents set the trend of educational freedom.
